4 Reasons Women Should Carry a Knife
Carrying a pocket knife is one of those things I never thought I'd do.
Kind of like wearing a belt after not owning one for 15 years. And now I can't imagine going out without either of those things.
Lately, I get a lot of messages from women asking about the knife I carry.
That makes me happy because I think every woman should carry one. It's not a dude thing like I used to think.
I've carried the Kershaw Blur for the last few years. I wish it were a tad smaller, but I haven't found another that I like more.
The textured grip makes it easy to hold onto, and it's a flippy boi, so it's easy to open with one hand.
My husband has one that he's beat the shit out of, and it still works perfectly.
I carry mine for utility because I'm not trained to use it for self-defense yet.
So, why carry a pocket knife?
It's easy to carry. Folding knives and fixed knives come pretty small these days. Some are even small enough to fit in women's tiny jeans pockets! I have a spare in my purse too because it takes up no room.
It's handy. Need to open a box? Grab your knife. Want to cut a stick of pepperoni while you're out and about? Grab your knife. Have an annoying thread hanging off your shirt? Grab your knife.
It's good to have in an emergency. Something with a sharp edge can get you out of a lot of situations and maybe even save your life.
And lastly, self-defense. Ideally, you'd have some knife training first, but this could always be a last resort.
If you’re on the journey toward self-reliance, a pocket knife is a great tool to add.
